"The Garden of Forked Tongues" - conceived by Jason Schuler, is a live & recorded mixed-media comedy adventure in which a group of ordinary people become involved with tourists from the future. Their journey takes them to all corners of the universe, and to vast, unknown horizons in their minds. Throughout the production the audience is hypnotized by a clinical hypnotist to heighten the feeling of traveling through time with the characters. (Do not worry - you can only be hypnotized if you want to be!)

Going to the River was founded in 1999 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre by the late Curt Dempster and Elizabeth Van Dyke, the Producing Artistic Director. The Executive Producing Director is Jamie Richards. The primary goal of Going to the River is to provide a major New York City forum in which professional African-American female playwrights may develop, refine and present their work.
